Stress and Subluxation
Chiropractic medicine addresses subluxation in the body. The three main causes of subluxation (joint dysfunction) are mechanical stress, chemical stress, and mental stress.
Mechanical stresses are referred to as either micro or macro traumas. . Both forms of mechanical injury which cause joint dysfunction can benefit immensely from chiropractic care.
- Micro traumas can also be called repetitive stress injury. For example sitting with poor posture at a desk and typing all day can cause problems such as carpal tunnel or neck, upper back, or low back pain.
- Macro traumas refers to specific incidents such as a fall, a break, or a car crash.
Subluxations can also be caused by chemicals stress on the the body. For example smoking, heavy drinking, exposure to pollution, and poor diet can create chemical imbalances in the body.
Mental stress is also capable of harming our body. As many of us have seen, we are more prone to sickness at times of great mental stress. Job changes, family illness, moving, divorce or death can be triggers for mental stress.
Chiropractic helps to remove postural imbalances and structural dysfunctions that can accumulate in our bodies in response to these different forms of stress. Chiropractic works by restoring your own inborn ability to be healthy.
Remember your body is self-healing and self-regulating. For your body to remain healthy, your nervous system must function well, since the brain and nervous system are the master control of your body. For your nervous system to function at it’s best it must be free of interference, free of subluxations. By restoring spinal function with the Chiropractic adjustment, nerve interference is removed, thus allowing optimal nervous system function and improved health.
The customized care you receive from your chiropractor may help to improve your posture, muscle balance and mobility. It can also restore the integrity of your nervous system and therefore your entire body, so you can get back to being healthy today!
